The judge’s written directions to a jury setting forth the legal concepts/rules that control their determination of the facts and issues in the case. A set of jury instructions is given to the jury just prior to its deliberations.  The instructions are taken primarily from pattern instructions adopted by the Supreme Court of Washington, but also from previously determined cases dealing with similar issues.
